Applications and Precautions:
Thermal Stability and Lubrication: Calcium stearate is a moderately strong alkaline salt that can absorb HCl produced during PVC degradation, providing initial thermal stability. It acts as a lubricant at the microscopic two-phase interface within the resin, reducing chain segment displacement resistance, and is considered an internal lubricant.
Synergistic Effect: When used alone, it can accelerate plasticization, but when compounded with paraffin wax or PE wax, it exhibits excellent internal and external lubrication synergistic effects, reducing processing torque.
Dosage Control:
Transparent Products: Excessive use (generally exceeding 0.5 parts) will lead to a decrease in the transparency of the product.
Calcium-Zinc/Lead Salt Stabilizers: In calcium-zinc systems, excessive amounts can lead to early yellowing; in lead salt systems, excessive amounts can lead to over-plasticization, resulting in reduced mechanical strength.
Foamed Products: It will affect the decomposition temperature of the foaming agent, and the amount of foaming agent needs to be adjusted during use.
In summary, the amount and combination of calcium stearate added to PVC directly determine the plasticization speed and appearance quality of the product.
